Tonight at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles beginning at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET, Taraji P. Henson will reprise her role as host in order to lead the celebration of talent across music, television, cinema, and sports. BET Awards 2022
Doja Cat was nominated for six awards, including best album of the year, best video of the year, and best female hip-hop and R&B artist.
Sean “Diddy” Combs, a once-human-now-living-frequency, received the Lifetime Achievement Award. A stellar group of friends, including Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Nas, Lil’ Kim, Busta Rhymes, the Lox, Bryson Tiller, and Faith Evans, paid tribute to the producer/artist. BET Awards 2022

Lizzo performed her single “About Damn Time” as the show’s opening act while holding a flute and posing as a glamorous disco ball. Before presenting Jazmine Sullivan with the first prize of the evening, Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Janelle Monáe took to the stage and gave a special shout-out to “all the gays in the audience” and the Supreme Court. R&B royalty Brandy unexpectedly showed out to help Jack Harlow play “First Class” and even rapped a few lines while embracing her Queens emcee persona. Speaking of unexpected guests, Ye (real name Kanye West) arrived wearing nothing but a mask and a full body suit while assisting Babyface in presenting Diddy with the Lifetime Achievement ,BET Awards 2022 Award.
Ye jokingly reminisced about his early years, “I was signed to Puff without him even knowing,” adding, “that remark is not legally enforceable.” Ye made the sarcastic jest that Diddy had influenced both his “life” and “marriage” decisions. ,BET Awards 2022
